Metabonomics of cancer by NMR spectroscopy
This project is to develop metabonomics of cancer cell culture, using 1H NMR spectroscopy. The question we seek to address is how much clinically and scientifically useful information can be obtained from NMR studies of the metabolic composition of whole cells, and of extracts, taken from resistant and non-resistant cell lines. We are also interested in how the metabolic profiles of both cell types change on exposure to chemotherapeutic agents, e.g. anthracyclines.
