DCU Connected is the term that encompasses the courses available to students who choose distance study, also called online education or e-learning. Upon successful completion of your DCU online course, you’ll earn a qualification equivalent to with our full-time, campus-based degrees that will propel your professional or academic career forward.

If you’ve got family, work, geographic, or other commitments, distance learning’s flexible schedule enables you to study online, off-campus and/or through one of our strategic partners.

Importantly, the term ‘connected’ reflects a particular DCU philosophy about education in the new digital world. You’ll have the same opportunities and feel as close and engaged as any of our on-campus students.

DCU Connected fits DCU’s mission of transforming lives and societies. Not only will you be able to take courses regardless of your location, but you’ll also have opportunity to connect first-hand to an increasingly international network of students. The result is that you will have a globally recognised Irish degree that provides a unique, multi-faceted perspective on some of the major challenges and opportunities facing the world.

How it works

Our e-learning environment, Loop, is where you’ll interact online with teaching staff and fellow students, access course materials, watch lectures, use the Library, undertake quizzes and interactive activities, and submit assignments. Loop will keep you connected with course materials, teachers and fellow learners, no matter what your location.  Some of our courses provide many opportunities to meet other students in person on occasion. Although you’re always connected to one another and DCU through Loop.
