Fallout Film Screening

The DCU School Law and Government will support the Say I’m Innocent campaign on Thursday 23rd November with a screening of the highly successful film Fallout.

The Irish tour of the Say I’m Innocent campaign aims to highlight major changes that are needed in the law and crucial services lacking for miscarriages of justice cases. Following release from prison, long-serving exonerees face an unfamiliar world with no services of any kind available to them. Many end up in a legal limbo with little or no hope of compensation or real justice.

Fallout, which has been screened on BBC and RTE, is based on the post-prison lives of four high profile exonerees who were sentenced to death or life:

  • Paddy Hill, one of the Birmingham Six who served 16 years
  • Robert Brown, who served 25 years for murder
  • Sunny Jacobs, sentenced to death along with her then husband, and served 17 years for the murder of two police officers in Florida (her story has been played on Broadway by Susan Sarandon and Brooke Shields
  • Peter Pringle, convicted of murdering two Gardaí and sentenced to hanging

The Dublin City University screening will also feature presentations by Paddy Hill and Robert Brown and will also include input from both legal and psychological experts.
