Brexit, the Border and the Internal Market

The DCU Brexit Institute and the European Commission Representation in Ireland will host a workshop entitled ‘Brexit, the Border and the Internal Market’ at Europe House on Thursday 26th October, 2017.

The workshop will examine specifically the issue of the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland, which is arguably the most sensitive of the three items in the withdrawal negotiations, and consider also questions concerning the access by the UK to the EU internal market post Brexit.

The event will feature the participation of leading academics, business leaders and policy-makers, including Carlos Closa (Centro Estudio Poloiticos), John Doyle (Dublin City University), Anne-Marie Martin (Council of British Chamber of Commerce in Europe) and Dagmar Schiek (Queen’s University Belfast).

The event will also feature a keynote speech from Pascal Lamy (former Secretary General of the WTO, former European Commissioner on Internal Market) and a debate between Alyn Smith (Member of the European Parliament) and Senator Neale Richmond (Member of the Irish Senate).
