School of Education Studies
About the School
At present the School of Education Studies offers a number of taught programmes and masters and doctoral level research opportunities. At the heart of these programmes and opportunities is a commitment to creating a positive and supportive educational environment for staff and students alike.
Our Staff
School of Education Studies staff are deeply committed to excellence in teaching. Most of us have been involved in developing the actual modules we teach and we strive for the creativity and flexibility in our teaching and learning. We are all involved in research on critical aspects of education and training such as:
- Leadership
- Equality and Diversity
- Interculturalism
- Information and Communication Technology
- Citizenship
- Curricuiculum Assessment and Evaluation
- Lifelong learning
- Wellbeing and Mental Health
- Educational Policy and Structures
Our expertise in these areas has been internationally recognised and several members of our academic staff are currently involved in research that is funded by EU and Government agencies.
Our Students
Those who choose to study at the DCU School of Education Studies come from a variety of backgrounds. Many of those enrolling on our programmes do so having worked for some time as leaders, administrators and teachers in education and training settings. They contribute from their knowledge and experience in schools, further education colleges, community and adult education, Traveller education centres, Youthreach programmes, special education, as well as the public and private sector training fields. Those who study at doctoral level in our School are typically leaders in their field and bring with them a proven record of leadership in education and training and an ability to engage in research at the highest level.
Our Alumni
Since we were founded in 1995 our graduates have gone on to make a significant contribution both nationally and internationally in the fields of education and training. Every day the work of our graduates impacts on the lives of individuals, communities and organisations. We watch with pride as they build on the work started in DCU.
