Sports Complex Regulations: General
- The University reserves the right to refuse or suspend membership or to terminate a booking of the Sports Complex.
- All Membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable
- In the event of suspension of membership or termination of a booking any outstanding fees will be refunded.
- The University does not accept responsibility for private property brought into the Sports Complex.
- Users must vacate halls at five minutes to the hour to facilitate the change-over from one activity to another.
- Receipts provided on entry to the facility must be retained by users and Sport Complex staff may request that they be inspected at any time.
- All official notices in the Sport Complex must be strictly adhered to.
- Bookings for activities must be made in person, we regret that we cannot take bookings by telephone.
- Sports Complex staff must have access to the stores at all times, and this may result in slight interruptions to activities.
- Fire exits are for emergency use only. They are alarmed and should not be interfered with.
- Sports Complex equipment should be treated with care. Equipment should be only by the staff. Any equipment damaged by users will have to be replaced by the individual or group involved.
- Sports clothing should be worn when participating in all sports activity.
- No food or drink is allowed in the halls. No glass bottles are allowed in the Sports Complex. Users are asked to help maintain a pleasant environment in the building by keeping litter to a minimum.
- The Sports Complex is strictly a non-smoking zone.
- Non-marking shoes must be worn at all times. Decisions of staff in relation to the suitability of particular shoes are to be complied with immediately.
- Spectators must use the viewing gallery on the first floor.
Regulations for Sports equipment lockers
- Locks may be purchased at Sports Complex reception desk.
- Lockers should not be packed tightly with equipment.
- Sports equipment and clothing must be stored in lockers.
- Lockers are intended for users of the Sports Complex only, they must not be used for long-term storage. Lockers will be emptied regularly and any equipment found will be dumped.
- Personal effects are left in the lockers at owners risk.
Sports Complex Regulations: Sport Club Lockers
Club lockers in the Sports Complex are intended to facilitate clubs with the storage and care of their equipment. All clubs have been issued with keys for the lockers, and club officers are expected to take precautions to safeguard the security of their equipment. In the event of a key being lost a fee of £20.00 will be charged for its replacement. Sports Complex staff will not open these lockers, and it is the responsibility of club officers to ensure that the key to their locker is available when required. The DCU sports club equipment storing of lockers are property of the Sports Clubs Committee (SCC) and the Student Finance Committee. The appointed Equipment officer (SCC) may have access to these lockers in order to check equipment. Please contact the Sport and Recreation Officer for details.
Sport Complex Regulations: Main Hall and Minor Hall
- No food or drink allowed.
- Non-marking shoes must be worn at all times. Most indoor shoes are non-marking but running (athletics) shoes are not acceptable.
- Decisions of Sports Complex staff in relation to the suitability of particular shoes are to be complied with immediately.
- Spectators are not allowed in the Main or Minor halls, they must use the viewing area.
- All bags and coats should be stored in the lockers provided. They are not allowed in the sports areas.
Regulations for Changing areas
- No clothes or valuables are to be left in the changing areas at any time.
- The University will not accept responsibility for any items lost or stolen in the Sports Complex.
- Users are requested to use the drying off areas, in order to keep the changing areas as dry as possible.
Climbing Wall Regulations
- Regulations for the safe use of the climbing wall are posted in the minor hall.
- Climbing is not possible when the Minor hall is booked by a group or club. Decisions by the Sports Complex management in relation to the compatibility between climbing and other activities in the hall are final.
Regulations for the Fitness Suite
- Users should make themselves familiar with the correct use of equipment by reading notices related to their use, and attending one of the instruction sessions provided.
- Sports Complex staff will be available to provide advice and assistance at all times.
- Users are asked to carry a towel with while using the Fitness Suite, and to wipe down equipment following use.
- Users should wear loose but well fitted clothing, and ensure that their footwear is suitable for use on the equipment.
- Users should comply with the rules posted in the Fitness Suite in relation to time limits on certain equipment.
- Users are requested to treat the equipment with care and to report any faults with the equipment to Sports Complex staff immediately.
Regulations for Squash/Handball/Racquetball Courts
- Cancellations of bookings should be notified to the reception desk as early as possible. This may be done by phone. Allow seven days per weekly booking and fourteen days per event.
- Regulations in relation to footwear, food and drink as per other sports areas.
- Eye protectors should be worn at all times. These are provided free of charge to all players at the Sports Complex.
- Users are asked to vacate courts on time.
- Bookings for courts are allowed as follows:
- Squash 40 minutes
- Handball/Racquetball 40 minutes
If there is no booking immediately after players have completed
their period, then
they may make a further booking by paying the appropriate fee.
