Biographical Details:

Des McLaughlin is a lecturer in Management Information Systems at DCU Business School. He has a BSc and an MSc in physics from University College Dublin, and an MBA from Fordham University, New York. He is registered on the PhD programme at the School of Management at Cranfield University, UK. His research topic is in the area of the social basis of relationships in Information Technology outsourcing. Other research interests are in the area of social capital, and technology strategy. He joined the faculty of DCUBS in 2002. Prior to joining DCU he was the eircom research affiliate at MIT Media Lab, both in Boston and in Dublin. Previous roles include: Head of Business Planning in eircom Multimedia; Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing eircom USA; Change Manager in eircom's Business Process Re-engineering unit; and Head of Product Development. Des also managed the implementation of the eircom's Information Age project in Ennis and eircom's Information Age Schools project.
