Biographical Details:

Declan Tuite joined DCU in 2001 where he lectures in program development and research supervision. Declan's areas of expertise lie in interactive design, programming, HCI, usability and new media project management.

Research Interests:

His main research interests include production methodologies for new media, algorithmic composition and the creation of responsive media systems. Declan is currently researching his PhD around eParticipation and Inclusion. He is looking at the effects of Internet use by communities on Social Capital. His research focuses on the mix of relationships and interactions carried out both online (mediated) and in face-to-face situations. He is inspecting the relationship between Internet use and indicators of Social Capital such as promoting community engagement, a sense of community and collective action.

Declan serves as the co-ordinating judge on the Annual Irish eGovernmant Awards
