Dr. Carol Barron
Biographical Details:
PhD, MSc, BSc, Dip Pharm RNT, RSCN,RGN I joined DCU in 2005 and previously worked in Luton University and Oxford Brookes University. I received my PhD from NUI Maynooth, an MSc in Social Anthropology in Child Development from Brunel University, a BSc in Education from Manchester University and a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacology from RCSI . I hold qualifications in General, Children¿s and Neonatal nursing. I represent DCU on FACiLiTATE the National Problem Based Learning organisation and the Dublin Region Higher Education Alliance (DRHEA). I am the Chairperson of Súgradh, a registered charity promoting the child's right to play in Ireland. My current role in DCU is that of BSc Nursing Programme Chair. My research interests include
Research Interests:
Childrens use of space in the home and surrounding environments. Childrens mobility. Childrens play, gender and play. Play and performance. Physical activity, obesity and children. Body image. Children as co-researchers in the research process. Research methodologies with childrens; specifically visual ethnographies, the draw and write technique and photo eliction.
