Ms Siobhan MacDermott
Biographical Details:
I am a lecturer in the School of Nursing, Dublin City University. I previously worked as a critical care nurse in the area of childhood illness for over 15 years in Ireland, the UK and the US. I completed several post registration and Higher diploma programmes in critical care nursing over 15 years and worked as a Clinical Nurse Manager from 1996-1999. I completed my MSc in Training and Education Management in 2002. My primary research interest is chronic illness in young adults, communicating with children and families and healthcare professionals and I completed my thesis (MSc) on Challenges facing newly qualified children's nurses communicating with parents of hospitalised children In addition I am a member of a research group exploring hospital acquired infection from a wider organisational stance. We completed a study in 2008 which was published in the Journal Of Infectious Disease in January 2010. I am currently a doctoral student in DCU
