Biographical Details:

Margaret Heffernan (BBS, MBS, MCIPD, PhD) is a lecturer in HRM at Dublin City University Business School. Prior to this she lectured in the J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics at National University of Ireland, Galway. She previously worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Limerick, co-ordinating the Irish Management Institute/University of Limerick strategic leadership research programme, a study which investigated knowledge management, intellectual capital, social networks and strategic leadership of management teams within indigenous Irish software companies. This research culminated in the publication of 'Managing Knowledge based Organisations'(Blackwell, 2003), which she co-authored. Margaret is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and a FAS accredited trainer. She is also certified by the British Psychological Society (BPS) to administer a range of psychometric instruments. Her main research interests focus on strategic human resource management, organisational justice and employee outcomes. She has presented at numerous academic and professional conferences and published academic journal articles in such journals as the International Journal of Human Resource Management and Journal of European and Industrial Training. She has also co-authored a number of book chapters, most recently a chapter in International Human Resource Management which was edited by A.W. Harzing and A. Pinnington and published by Sage. Awards for her research include a best paper award at the Irish Academy of Management Conference. She is currently Programme Director of the CIPD accredited MSc in Human Resource Management at DCU.
