Biographical Details:

DR YVONNE DALY graduated from University College Cork with a First Class Honours law degree and went on to complete a PhD at Trinity College Dublin. She was awarded a postgraduate scholarship from the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences in order to undertake her doctoral studies and successfully defended her PhD thesis, entitled "Assembly-Lines and Obstacle Courses: The Pre-Trial Process in Ireland" in 2008. Dr Daly is the Director of the BCL (Law and Society) degree.

Research Interests:

Dr Daly lectures in Criminal Law and the Law of Evidence at Dublin City University. She has published numerous articles, book chapters and reports on criminal justice and criminal procedure, with particular regard to the pre-trial process, and she is co-author (with Dr Vicky Conway (University of Kent) and Jennifer Schweppe (UL)) of "Irish Criminal Justice: Theory, Process and Procedure" (Clarus Press, 2010). Dr Daly is a regular contributor to the "Human Rights in Ireland" online blog (www.humanrights.ie) and she previously acted as a National Rapporteur on Criminal Procedure to the International Academy of Comparative Law. In the academic year 2010/2011 Dr Daly was a visiting academic at the Faculty of Law, University of Auckland. Dr Daly is currently supervising PhD theses on restorative justice and on sentencing practices at international tribunals. She welcomes enquiries from prospective LLM by Research or PhD students in the areas of criminal justice, criminal procedure, criminal law or the law of evidence.
