Dr Yvonne Crotty
Biographical Details:
Yvonne is a Lecturer in the School of Education Studies and coordinates and teaches on the e-Learning strand of the M.Sc. in Education and Training Management programme. She also teaches on the specialist e-Learning modules on the M.Sc. in Guidance and Counselling and the Graduate Diploma in Education. Yvonne coordinates the Teaching Methodologies module and is involved in Teaching practice supervision. She has taught at second level education for 15 years. Her subjects include Music and Performing Arts, RE, Art, English, SPHE and Spanish. She has also worked in industry and training. Yvonne has a Degree from Mater Dei Institute and an M.Sc in Education and Training Management (eLearning) from DCU. Her PHd is in Educational Entrepreneurship. She was a recipient of a DCU Learning Innovation Award in 2007 and 2010 and was nominated for the President's Award for Teaching and Learning Excellence in 2009, 2010 and 2012. Research Interests:
Yvonne supervises students who are carrying out Masters dissertations/practicums on the e-Learning strand of the M.Sc. programme. She is particularly interested in promoting creativity and visual literacy in higher education and her work as director of the research group Video linkEd highlights this. She produces her own podcasts and videos and is involved in the 'Ubiquitous Learning' in Higher Education project with the Applied Learning Technology Institute (ALT^I) in Arizona State University. She spearheaded collaboration between DCU and the Global eSchools and Communities Initiative (GeSCI) in the development and evaluation of the Graduate Diploma in Leadership Development in ICT and the Knowledge Society programme. The programme is geared towards building capacity and raising the awareness of African leaders and policy makers on the role and contribution of ICT, Education, Science & Technology and Innovation to the development of Knowledge Societies in Africa. She is also involved with a collaboration between Vance Martin University of Illinois, United States of America Ingrid Lynette Bruynse University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa , Steve Hull Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) Bristol University. https://vimeo.com/45502097 Yvonne has acted as an evaluator for the EU Leonardo projects. She has carried out research and developed learning resources for use in the post primary school curriculum e.g. Cancer Awareness Programme for use in SPHE Senior Cycle curriculum. She is founding member of the ICT and Educational Innovation Team in DCU.
