Dr. Mary Rose Sweeney
Biographical Details:
I am a Lecturer in Health Systems Research in the School of Nursing and Human Sciences, in DCU and currently hold the post of Deputy Head of the School. For the past year I was Director of the Healthy Living Centre in DCU and founded NURISH, a nutrition interest group. I am currently principal investigator of a number of studies examining healthy weight maintenance, health and lifestyles in Irish teenagers, and a number of folic acid reflated projects. Prior to this I spend 5 years in UCD as Programme Chair of the M.Sc. in Child Health in UCD. and Project Director of All-Ireland Traveller Health Study and Transfusion Research Network Ireland. I have an interest in Folic Acid Fortification Policy in Ireland and have been researching and publishing in this space for the past 15 years. I have an interest in autism services in Ireland and I am currently Co- PI of a large school based study investigating the prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorders in Ireland. I am also been involved in a number of studies on infant weaning and breast feeding. I have recently completed a pilot study looking at diet and lifestyle factors amongst 3rd level students in DCU.
