Dr Satheesh Krishnamurthy

Biographical Details:

Satheesh Krishnamurthy holds B.Sc and M.Sc Physics from University of Madras, India. He spent 2 years with Energy Research company in India (SPIC Ltd) , where he held a Junior Resaerch Associate and Research Engineer positions and involved mainly in the development of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells for hybrid electric vehicle systems. He holds a PhD from University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, in the area of Surface Science properties of Nanostructured Systems. Following his PhD, he spent 4 years of Research Fellow positions at the School of Physics and Centre for Research in Adaptive Nanostructures and Nanodevices and involved various challenging projects which includes EuFP6 program called Desygn IT,an European consortium of 16 academic institutions and 5 companies. Since 2008, he joined as a Research officer through Integrated Nanoscience Platform for Ireland program at the National centre for plasma science and technology and RINCE. He also led few delegation to India and a member of Executive India working group.

Research Interests:

1.Understanding the electronic and optical properties of nanomaterials 2. Preparation of hard coating of nitrides by PLD and other physical an chemical techniques. 3. Application of silicon nanocrystals and other metal nanoparticles for photovoltaic applications 4. Electroactive bio films for microbial fuel cells
