Biographical Details:

Brian Harney is a Lecturer in Strategy and HRM at DCU Business School and Deputy Director (Knowledge) of the LInK research centre (http://www.link.dcu.ie). Brian completed his PhD at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. Prior to this Brian held a lecturing position at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Brian is a Fellow of the Cambridge European Society and a recipient of the Guinness/Irish Management Institute Sir Charles Harvey Medal. In 2010 Brian received a DCU President¿s award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (nominee 2011). In 2012 he was nominated for the DCU President's award for Civic Engagement. Awards for his research include UCIRHRP Best Student Paper, Best PhD Paper Judge Business School Doctoral Conference, Best Postgraduate Paper Irish Academy of Management Conference, Best Paper Strategy as Practice Track British Academy of Management Conference, IRRA/AILR Best Paper and ISSP Best Overall Paper. Brian has published in journals such as Human Resource Management Journal, International Journal of HRM and Advances in Industrial and Labor Relations. He has experience in HR and strategy consulting while his commissioned work on university technology transfer was cited in the Irish Government¿s Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation and published in book format by Oak Tree Press. Brian currently serves as the Irish Ambassador for the HRM Division of the American Academy of Management and is an Academic Fellow of the Centre for International HRM, University of Cambridge (http://www.cihrm.jbs.cam.ac.uk). At LInK Brian is Principal Investigator of a PRTLI funded project examining knowledge sharing and transfer in university research centres. Brian is also a PLATO group leader, a facilitator on the Enterprise Ireland Management 4 growth programme and an external examiner at the Carlow Institute of Technology. Brian's co-authored text 'Strategy and Strategists' was recently published by Oxford University Press. He is currently working on a co-edited research monograph examining HRM practice in Ireland.
