Dr. Michael Breen
Biographical Details:
Michael Breen is a lecturer in the School of Law and Government at Dublin City University, specializing in international relations, international political economy, and the politics of global finance. He holds a BA and MA from University College Dublin where he also graduated with a PhD on the role of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the global economy (October, 2010). It was awarded the Basil Chubb Prize for best PhD thesis (produced in an Irish university) in any field of politics. Michael's recent work continues to focus on the IMF but also more generally on the politics of global finance and sovereign debt. Recent articles on these topics have been accepted for publication in high-impact journals such as International Studies Quarterly and the European Journal of International Relations. Michael is also Programme Director of the MA in International Relations and the MA in International Security and Conflict Studies. He teaches on a range of DCU's programmes including the MA in International Relations, BA in International Relations and BA in Economics, Politics and Law. In 2010, he received DCU's President's Award for Excellence in Teaching (New Lecturer Category).
