Biographical Details:

Dr. Noel Carroll is a Postdoctoral researcher at the Irish Centre for Cloud Computing and Commerce (IC4). He is also a member of the Business Informatics Group (B.I.G) within the School of Computing. Noels research is currently focused on developing service analytics and methods which support the assessment of Cloud environments though a Cloud Service Index (CSI). He completed his PhD at Lero - the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre, University of Limerick which focuses on the emerging discipline of Service Science. His research explores methods to examine the socio-technical dynamics of complex service systems. The research examines Service Science initiatives and identifies methods to investigate the value of IT across service networks. He is particularly interested in applying organisational network analysis and actor-network theory to examine the socio-technical influence of IT on service dynamics. He has a number of publications which identifies the need to adopt a new analytical lens to model the impact of IT-enabled innovation within service networks. As part of his PhD, he had also worked on a European project: 'S-Cube'. S-Cube was a European Network of Excellence in Software Services and Systems (http://www.s-cube-network.eu/). Noel has also worked as a researcher at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management in Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. There he investigated the application of serious gaming learning solutions to examine team strategy and interaction within a global supply chain environment. He has also completed a Masters (research) in Business on e-learning support within third level education in Ireland.
