Biographical Details:

Harry Esmonde completed his doctoral thesis while working at the Commisariate D'Energie Atomique at Saclay in Paris. The results of this work have now been incorporated in design code used by the French nuclear industry when specifying nuclear installations. He then participated in a BRITE programme in the area of active noise cancellation in aircraft. This involved the active suppression of engine generated noise in aircraft manufactured by Dornier, Saab, Alenia and Fokker. Following completion of this project Dr. Esmonde took a position with Loctite Research and Development and Engineering in Dublin as an engineer in the Technical Support Department. Eventually he moved into the role of manager of the Materials Evaluation and Testing group with responsibility for all aspects of mechanical and electrical testing of new Loctite products. In 1998 he joined the Mechanical Engineering department in DCU as a lecturer.
