Biographical Details:

Dr. Debbie Ging is a lecturer in the School of Communications. She teaches Media Studies, Film Studies and Cultural Studies (with a focus on gender and sexuality and ethnicity and interculturalism). She is currently chair of the MA in Film and Television Studies. Debbie is a member of the International Advisory Board for the journal Men and Masculinities (http://jmm.sagepub.com/) and is a member of the Editorial Board of Gender, Sexuality and Feminism (http://www.gsfjournal.org/). She is a member of the EROSS research group in DCU (http://www.dcu.ie/eross/index.shtml) and of the new National Research Centre for Media, Power and the Public.

Research Interests:

All aspects of gender and sexuality in the media, masculinity in film, advertising, multiculturalism / interculturalism and the media, audience research, sound in cinema. PhD: a textual and audience analysis of marginalised masculinities in contemporary Irish film.
