The Library shelves print books firstly according to their:

Then according to the appropriate collection (this is determined by whether the title is essential or supplementary reading).
Short Loan (borrowable for 3 hours or 48 hours) or
Main Lending (borrowable for 1 week or 3 weeks)
The majority of books you require will be located on the first floor which houses material relating to the Humanities and Social Sciences. Some material dealing with photography, video production, marketing and advertising are located on the second floor.
We now have access to over 5,000 e-books, all of which are searchable via the Catalogue. When you search the library catalogue you can refine your search by choosing "E-Books" on the left hand side of the screen.

Palgrave Social and Cultural Studies Collection
Provides access to 100 e-books and spans a large range of subject areas including Sociology, Social Policy, Criminology, Cultural Studies and Media Studies.
A journal is a scholarly publication issued in parts, with a scholarly audience. It differs from a magazine which is a continuing publication, informal in tone, and intended for a general audience, not scholarly in nature. A journal's intent is to add to the body of knowledge on a given subject.

Academic Search Complete The world's largest academic multi-disciplinary database, provides full text access to over 4,600 full text and 3,600 peer-reviewed journals across a broad range of subjects areas.
A collection of over 550,000 digital images offering a broad view of art, architecture and all aspects of visual and material culture. Use ARTStor to browse, search and view images; create, save and share groups of images and add personal notes to images. Export images to use in Power Point presentations or download the 'Offline Image Viewer' to develop more sophisticated presentations. Now includes access to over 80,000 photographs from the Magnum Collection.
Communications and Mass Media Complete (CMMC)
Provides full text access to over 380 journals, with cover-to-cover indexing and abstracts for more than 500 journals, and selected ("priority") coverage of nearly 200 more. Many major journals have indexing, abstracts, PDFs and searchable cited references from their first issues to the present (dating as far back as 1915). CMMC contains a sophisticated Communication Thesaurus and comprehensive reference browsing.
Company accounts, ratios, activities, ownership and management for the largest 2.6 million UK and Irish companies, summary information for a further 1 million smaller businesses.

Produced in collaboration with the British Film Institute and based on the Summary of Film and Television (SIFT) database collated by the BFI over the past 70 years, FiIm Index International provides in-depth indexing of over 121,600 films - from the first silent movies to the latest blockbusters - and biographical information for more than 737,000 personalities.
Irish Newspaper Archive
Access to over 260 years of Irish history, the INA is a database of digitised Irish newspapers, from 1763 issues of the Freeman's Journal to modern titles such as the Irish Independent and the Galway City Tribune.
Irish Times Digital Archive
The Irish Times Digital archive is a searchable full-text reproduction of all editions published by the Irish Times from 1859 to the most recent 12 months. Features include 'page view' and the ability to limit to these sections: advertisements, banner, classified, cartoons, obituaries etc. Search the most recent 12 months' content on www.irishtimes.com
Short for Journal Storage, JSTOR provides access to an archive of 1,300 core scholarly journals in subject areas as diverse as Development Studies, Economics, Population Studies, Film Studies and Political Science.
Full-text coverage of international newspapers, press releases, transcripts of TV broadcasts, newswires, magazines and trade journals. Select the drop-down menu for Sources to limit news titles to a specific country – includes over 40 provincial and national titles for Ireland.
This excellent data source hosts 86,000 items including statistics and factbooks for the 34 OECD member states and for selected non-OECD countries. Its areas of focus include: economics, education, health, goverance and science and technology. Search by theme, country or both.
