DCU Graduate to anchor C4 Paralympics Coverage

DCU Communication Studies Graduate, Daraine Mulvihill will join Channel 4's 20-strong presenting team to cover the 2012 Paralympics Games in London. While working alongside former Olympic gold-medallist triple jumper Jonathan Edwards, Daraine will front Channel 4's coverage of the Paralympic Games, from nine in the morning until lunchtime every day. Covering the Paralympic Games will be the biggest operation ever undertaken in Channel 4's 30-year history.

Daraine was hit with a life-threatening strain of meningitis that left her with permanent disabilities at the age of 16. In recognition of her bravery and strength in overcoming the illness, she received and 'Irish Person of the Year' award and was appointed as a youth representative to the Council of State, advisory body by the President of Ireland.

After leaving school, Daraine undertook a BA in Communication Studies at Dublin City University and completed the postgraduate Cummarsaid Fheidhmeach at NUIG. Presenting roles on Telegael and RTEs Kids TV were followed by a move to London which involved training with BBC, ESPN and Sky Sports News. Describing the London Paralympics role as her 'dream job', Daraine is currently presenting the network's 'Road to London 2012' series.
