Salmon Poetry publishes DCU Lecturer John Murphy's book of poetry

Dr O'Hara appointed to Teaching Council

Recently retired senior lecturer in the School of Computer Applications,
Dr John Murphy, is having his book of poetry, The Book of Water,
published by Salmon Poetry.The book will be formally launched at the
end of May in the Unitarian Church, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin. John
taught software engineering to DCU students for almost twenty years.
He retired early last year following a number of operations. He was
shortlisted twice for the Hennessy/Sunday Tribune/Independent New Irish
Writer of the year prize. He was also shortlisted for the Bridport Prize and
specially commended in the Patrick Kavanagh Award.He has won prizes
in the Boyle Arts Festival poetry Competition and in the UK in the
international Blue Nose poetry competition. His poetry has been published
in numerous poetry journals including Poetry Ireland Review, Cyphers,
Mimesis, Pulsar, Revival and Ambit. He regularly reads his poetry at the
Whitehouse Poets in Limerick.
