Innovation Dublin

Innovation Dublin is an annual festival celebrating the innovative spirit of the city. A showcase to promote, inspire and stimulate the growing innovation and creativity in Dublin, activities include talks, lectures, debates, performances, screenings and other diverse events. The festival provides a platform for debate and discussion about innovation and an opportunity to discover the huge range of innovative, creative activity happening in the city region.

The Innovation Dublin 2012 festival takes place from 15th October - 26th October 2012 and features the following DCU events:

Fusion –A Future Global Energy Source

With environmental requirements for zero or low CO2 emission sources and the need to invest in a sustainable energy mix, new energy sources must be developed. The National Centre for Plasma Science & Technology (NCPST) at Dublin City University (DCU) will a host a seminar to explain what Fusion is and how Fusion Energy has the potential to provide a sustainable solution to global energy needs. If you have an interest in innovative sustainable sources of energy this seminar will give an overview of Fusion and demonstrate how it is possible to produce commercial energy from Fusion. NCPST is part of a large scale international scientific experiment that is exploring the ability to produce commercial energy from Fusion.

The 'Quick and Dirty' Guide to Moving Beyond the 'Quick and Dirty' Survey: Some simple tips on getting your survey research right

This event will discuss when and how to use surveys for the purposes of business related market research. It will outline the basics of questionnaire design, some fieldwork mechanisms, basic sampling techniques and how to get the most out of the data returned. It will discuss some common pitfalls in questionnaire design, sampling and analysis. The session is aimed at those with little experience of designing surveys or data analysis and will also involve an opportunity for discussion among participants on survey research.

Innovation is a major domain in its scope and its outcomes. It is a major challenge in building capability and directing that competence and resource towards major value for the organisation. This talk considers the innovation journey and the elements we seek to develop and refine to achieve our innovation goals. It is aimed at those engaged in innovation, in research, in areas of change, with particular emphasis on innovation champions, innovation leaders and sponsors.
