New SFI-funded Research Centres

Today saw the eagerly anticipated launch of five new world-class SFI research centres. DCU remarkably is involved in four of the five funded centres. With funding of €250 million over the next six years these centres will support cutting-edge research, predominantly in ICT and medical device development.

 Congratulations are extended to all those involved in preparing the highly complex and competitive Centre submissions. The four Centres with DCU involvement are:

 Adapt - looking at global digital connectivity, Adapts research will enhance efficiencies and global reach.

 CONNECT - Centre for Future Networks & Communications  - looking at future broadband, cellular and Internet-of-Things networks

 CŪRAM -  Centre for Research in Medical Devices – looking at implantable ‘smart’ medical devices

 LERO - Irish Software Research Centre – software engineering in the context of large-scale, interconnected and evolving systems
