DCU to host DRHA 2015 Conference

Dublin City University will welcome colleagues from all over the world on 1st – 3rd September for the annual Digital Research in the Humanities and Arts Conference ‘DRHA Dublin 2015 – Digital World. Digital Responses’.  A unique mix of academic conference and creative gathering, this is the first time the event will be hosted outside a UK university and DCU promises its delegates an engaging, memorable and very special experience.

For almost twenty years, DRHA has been a key gathering for all those engaged with the digitisation of cultural activity, resources and heritage and it has adapted and evolved in response to the digital world with which it engages. There is no other conference of this prestige that brings all these ideas, narratives and most critically people together in such a way as does this.

This year’s conference will feature world-class keynotes, academic papers, expert panels, art installations and performances in response to five ‘grand challenges’ for the humanities and arts in our digital world. These challenges include resolving conflict, cultural freedom, urban living, climate change and healthy societies.

Keynote speakers:

  • Professor Alan Smeaton, Professor of Computing/ Director of the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, Dublin City University
  • Dr Deirdre Gribbin, Senior Lecturer, Trinity Laban Conservatoire London
  • Dr Nora O’Murchú, Director, Digital Media Design, University of Limerick
  • Professor Steve Dixon, President of LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore

DCU is grateful for the support of the National Library of Ireland, the Irish Humanities Alliance and the Digital Arts and Humanities Institute.  For full programme details visit http://www.drha2015.ie/programme/
