DCU Communications graduate to produce Live Earth

On June 18, 2015, together with the United Nations, Live Earth will once again create a global series of events over 24 hours, on six continents, anchored from Paris and New York. Emer Patten, DCU Communications graduate and founder of Splinter Films has been announced as broadcast producer for the event which will be broadcast across all major media platforms.

Founded by Emmy-winning producer Kevin Wall, in partnership with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, Live Earth was built upon the belief that entertainment has the power to transcend social and cultural barriers to move the world community to action. A for-profit company, Live Earth seeks to leverage the power of entertainment through integrated events, media, and the live experience to ignite a global movement aimed at solving the most critical environmental issues of our time.

Emer, who is based in London and has worked with leading artists such as Foo Fighters, REd Hot Chilli Peppers, Beyoncé and Katy Perry said,

“I am thrilled to be able to announce - finally - that I will once again be taking the reins of producer for Live Earth, at the Paris show.  I am so excited because I believe so passionately in this.  It's huge. And it's IMPORTANT.”

Emer was previously Broadcast Producer for Live Earth Wembley, the hub of the global coverage, incorporating 22 live acts on stage at Wembley for full BBC broadcast as well as integration into global Live Earth coverage.  At that time, Live Earth was the largest multi-platform global broadcast event with an audience of 2 billion across terrestrial and satellite television, radio, digital and other platforms.

Emer also contributed to the inaugural TEDxDCU event in November 2013 on the theme ‘A passionate engagement, when music, film-making and activism overlap’.
