The university boasted a number of current students on the Dublin team and extended panel including Dean Rock, James McCarthy, Davy Byrne (all Ballymun Kickhams), Gavin Burke (St Vincent’s), Shane Carthy (Naomh Mearnog), Philip Ryan (St Brigid’s) and Conor McHugh (Na Fianna).

Others who’ve graduated from DCU, contributing to college life in recent years and who represented Dublin on Sunday included captain, Stephen Cluxton (Parnells), Denis Bastick (Templeogue Synge Street), Paul Flynn (Fingallians), Bernard Brogan (Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruaidh), Philly McMahon (Ballymun Kickhams), Eoghan O’Gara (Templeogue Synge Street), Paddy Andrews (St Brigid’s), Michael Savage (St Vincent’s) and Eoin Culligan (Kilmacud Crokes).  The DCU community took particular interest in the pirotal defensive role played by graduate and current staff member, Jonny Cooper.

Three students from the new DCU St Patrick’s Campus were also involved in the final - Ciaran Kilkenny (Castleknock), Cormac Costello (Whitehall/St. Colmcille) and John Small (Ballymun Kickhams).   And behind the scenes, DCU grad and former Dublin footballer, Jason Sherlock was getting the team match fit in his role as Forwards Coach.

Commiserations to Kerry defender and current All-Star Peter Crowley (Laune Rangers Killorglin) who will be joining the university shortly for a Masters Programme, and to new DCU fresher, Liam Fahey who gave their all on the pitch last Sunday..
