DCU Sport named as Best Leisure Centre in Ireland at National Q Mark Awards

DCU Sport was named as the Best Leisure Centre in Ireland for Quality Management Systems at this year’s National Q Mark Awards which took place at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel on Friday, October 4th.

DCU Sport, which operates the sports facilities for DCU students, staff, alumni and local public were rewarded for their high level of service and quality. This is the fourth time that DCU Sport has been honoured at the National Q Mark awards.

The Q Mark Awards are associated with Quality and Excellence and it is the only system which allows businesses monitor all of their processes and procedures 100% of the time. DCU Sport has been associated with the EIQA since 2009.

There are over 5,000 members at the centre with a monthly footfall of over 65,000. A team of 41 full and part-time employees, along with over 100 work experience students, cater for the needs of those attending the centre.

The Minister for Social Protection, Leo Varadkar TD, who attended this year’s National Q Mark Awards said:

Quality standards and good governance enables this growth and competiveness and it is exciting to see companies in the public, private and not for profit sectors competing side by side. Ailbhe O’Dwyer, DCU Sport said: “Winning the Q Mark award this year is another reminder of the ever-improving quality and standard of what DCU Sport has to offer. The consistency and dedication of the team is reflected not only in the positive customer feedback, but in the atmosphere present in DCU Sport.”
