DCU Business School celebrates the Top 50 in Junior Certificate Business Studies

DCU Business School recently celebrated the achievements of the top performers in the Junior Certificate Business Studies Exams in schools in Dublin.

Now in its seventh year, the awards were developed to recognise the students who achieve the highest grades in the Junior Certificate Higher Level Business Studies examination. The awards also help to improve collaboration and communication between staff and students at second and third levels of the education sector in the area of business studies, contributing to a better learning environment for students.

The top 50 students and their teachers were presented with a certificate of achievement by the DCU Dean for Teaching & Learning Billy Kelly.

DCU Business School awarded the top three places (pictured) as follows:

  • 1st Place: Sally Vaughan, Muckross Park College
  • 2nd Place: Laoise Brady, Muckross Park College
  • 3rd Place (joint): Theo Bolger, Sandford Park School & Mary Vaughan, Muckross Park College

The ceremony was attended by Mary O’Sullivan, Honorary President of the Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland (BSTAI), who spoke about the work of BSTAI and encouraged those students present to continue with one of the business subjects for their Leaving Certificate and Dylan Kehoe, DCU Students’ Union President who spoke about the transformative student life that DCU offers.

We are delighted to acknowledge the wonderful achievements of the students, but we would also like to pay particular tribute to the commitment and dedication of their parents and teachers who guided their learning and helped to motivate the students towards their achievement in the business studies exam” commended Professor Anne Sinnott, Executive Dean of DCU Business School. "Congratulations to all involved and we wish each student the best of luck as they progress with their studies and look forward to welcoming some to DCU in the near future!"
