DCU Legal Services

From the 24th September 2013 DCU has in place a new Legal Services Framework for the University and its subsidiary companies.  Under the Framework DCU has three firms appointed to whom it can allocate work across all the areas that legal services maybe required.  An Authorized Contact List is in place with each of the firms that restricts to a limited number of university senior management personnel who can instruct the legal firms and approve new work on behalf of the University.  If you believe you may need legal advice including the support of external professional legal firms, please contact the Office of the Operations Officer in the first instance.

All correspondence threatening or initiating legal action against the University should be immediately referred to the Office of the Chief Operations Officer.

From the outset no legal action may be initiated on behalf of the University by a Staff member without first informing and getting the express permission of the University, please contact the Office of the Operations Officer in the first instance for further information.

It should be noted, where legal action is initiated, the budgetary source for the projected legal costs must be identified in advance or specific provision must be made for such costs.
