Open Education Unit

The Open Education Unit is committed to helping students achieve their educational goals without the need to regularly attend traditional campus-based classes. The Unit is part of the National Institute for Digital Learning and plays an important role in supporting students who are studying through DCU Connected.

Dublin City University has provided adults with flexible access to third level education for more than thirty years. Thousands of students have graduated with world-class DCU degrees whilst studying from off-campus in that time. As DCU Connected courses consist of a series of individual modules, you can tailor your study workload to the time you have available and build up credits towards your degree over time. DCU Connected provides attractive options to study on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Our undergraduate courses are open to anyone and if you are over 23, you do not need a Leaving Certificate.

The Open Education Unit has a team of highly experienced staff committed to supporting your learning, wherever you are. We are here to ensure that we support your learning needs. As part of the NIDL we are also committed to ensuring that our DCU Connected offerings are informed by leading-edge research.
