A module which provides students with an overview of Information Technology, Information Systems and the Internet and introduces students to programming in PHP. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Learning Outcomes | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

1. Identify the difference between Information Technology and Information Systems 2. Explain the various technologies, hardware, and software which comprise IT today, giving examples 3. Classify the many techniques, methods, technologies and services which comprise Information Systems 4. Explain the evolution of the Internet and its associated components and services. 5. Describe the underlying technology and techniques of the Internet. 6. Design and develop a web-site using HTML and other tools. 7. Compare how different types of media can be used as part of Internet-based solutions 8. Generate web pages using the PHP programming language 9. Apply the key constructions of programming, namely Sequence, Iteration and Selection in a PHP program 10. Build and modify web interfaces using PHP and HTML forms 11. Apply good programming practice in relation to web security, debugging, quality assurance and documentation | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
