To introduce the skills, techniques and procedures of radio news journalism

Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate awareness of radio news content and techniques, and critically evaluate various broadcasts
2. Evaluate and select from a range of stories to compile news bulletins suitable for different audiences
3. Write clear, accurate, fluent English (or Irish) suitable for radio news
4. Read a news bulletin in studio with a confident style
5. Operate studio equipment to record bulletins and interviews to a professional standard
6. Conduct effective interviews, select appropriate excerpts, and edit on computer
7. Identify and apply legal and ethical standards specific to radio news (objectivity, impartiality, fairness, decency, privacy, libel, contempt)
