Description
To equip students with the skills required to function as a radio reporter, and to be able critically assess their own work and that of others in terms of producing a radio package and working on a radio news programme.

Learning Outcomes
1. Identify topical stories and original news angles for specific radio audiences
2. Propose and produce appropriate story treatments (copy, straight report, audio package, reporter Q&A etc) suitable for different programmes
3. Write accurate, fluent and engaging scripts
4. Operate portable audio equipment to record interviews and location sound to a professional standard
5. Find and approach people in the news, obtain their consent, conduct interviews with due sensitivity in different circumstances, and record broadcastable answers
6. Use computers or analogue equipment to edit and mix recorded narration, interviews and location sound to a professional standard
7. Demonstrate mature judgement in applying legal and ethical standards
