Description
The aim of this course is to provide students with a theoretical and historical understanding of the question of national cinema, particularly in relation to the development of Irish cinema. Irish cinema will be situated in its wider cultural and social context. The relationship between cinema as a cultural industry and as a cultural form will be examined and the module will investigate the role of a national cinema in relation to contemporary culture.
