The aim of the module is to develop a critical understanding of the use of music in film.

Learning Outcomes
1. Appraise the generic, thematic and stylistic compositional approaches of a number of film composers.
2. Identify the key narrative features of a film score.
3. Demonstrate an ability to devise a methodology for the analysis of film music.
4. Display a critical appraisal of music as a function of media communication.
5. Evaluate the film music business.
