Description
1. To survey current discourses concerning spiritual belief and communications.2. To place these discourses in a wider historical and cultural context.3. To interrogate assumptions about the value of theism and atheism.4. To analyse particular media representations of the sacred.5. To ponder the continuing relevance of religion in contemporary society.

Learning Outcomes
1. Outline major current debates relating to belief and communications.
2. Place current relevant debates in a broader cultural context.
3. Analyse their own assumptions about belief and meaning.
4. Refer when relevant to media representations of faith and belief.
5. Update and deepen their knowledge through further research.
6. Evaluate a situation involving cultural diversity.
