Description
Students meet once a week, for the entire day, building a news product from scratch to professional standards with real-time deadlines. Under guidance from teaching staff, students become a news team: editors, sub-editors, reporters, producers of a print, radio and online news product. The day begins with story conference early in the morning and ends with a staff roundtable post-mortem at the end.

Learning Outcomes
1. Generate a menu of news stories and direct coverage
2. Accurately report, write and edit news items to specified length, style and deadline
3. Work effectively as a member of a team at all levels of responsibility
4. Take personal responsibility for completing assigned tasks in accordance with legal and ethical standards without close supervison
5. Design and produce a finished news product across all platforms (print, broadcast and online)
