Description
THIS MODULE PROVIDES an understanding of the issues in international journalism, as it is and as it may become, and of the skills needed to pursue it. At a time when a majority of news media cross national borders because of the availability of technology, journalists must take a wider view of the field. This module will look at the types of journalism practiced in different regions and countries, and students will get practical experience in reporting and writing about international issues, especially within the European Union. The module provides the theoretical grounding for postgraduate students expecting to soon enter the journalism profession or a related field. Addtionally, it provides real-world experience.

Learning Outcomes
1. To understand the types of journalism found in different areas around the world.
2. To research and analyze issues in international journalism.
3. To understand the ethical mores and constraints of international journalism.
4. To apply best-practice journalism principles in reporting on an event or issue in another country in an incisive and culturally sensitive way.
5. To report on and write about international issues that affect local issues.
