Description
This module provides a framework for students to develop a critical awareness of colour, composition, content, form, frame, montage and perspecitve in the visual arts and digital media. Questions of aesthetics, remediation, technology, vision and visuality are central to the module. The visual methodologies examined include iconologly, ideological analysis and semiotics.

Learning Outcomes
1. Identity the key compositional elements in visual representation.
2. Distinguish between the concepts of vision and visuality.
3. Conduct iconological, ideological and semiotic analyses of visual culture.
4. Investigate ways in which digitisation has transformed image making.
5. Review exhibitions of digital and contemporary art for publication.
6. Reference textual and visual content according to the Harvard System.
