On successful completion of this subject, students will: understand the need for a collaborative, interdisciplinary and international approach to problem solving in science; appreciate how to engage with, and learn from, a multicultural context in their studies and social interaction; understand some of the complex issues surrounding the social context of scientific and technological advances; know about a range of different types of evidence used to evaluate global climate change; and appreciate the types of impacts that climate change may have on a national and international scale in both the short- and long-term.

1. Discuss topics of environmental importance globally
2. Research relevant topics using peer reviewed literature
3. Give opinions on environmental topics supported by scientific fact
4. Write reports that are correctly referenced on environmental topics
5. Work in groups and assess group contribution to the work
6. Engage in group discussion and offer opinions
