Description
The purpose of this module is to provide the student with a broad knowledge of environmental issues relating to pollution sources and their mitigation. The field course content will vary depending on the location visited. In general the purpose will be to provide the student with exposure to a wide range of industrial environmental processes internationally so that comparisons can be made with Irish equivalents.

Learning Outcomes
1. Examine anthropogenic effects upon natural environments through visits to industrial and sites of environmental importance
2. Differentiate between international processes and events and the Irish context
3. Plan and construct arguments supporting industrial and other environmental protection approaches
4. Synthesise and summarise the activities encountered on the field course
5. Work in teams to solve problems
6. Write reports that are supported by additional reading
7. Present a paper on the value of an international field course
