Description
The purpose of this module is to provide the knowledge and skills needed by finance professionals to raise funding for a company. The emphasis is on raising finance in both the equity and debt markets. The course concentrates on the practical side of raising finance which compliments the theoretical learning in other modules. Students are expected to attend lectures, given by guest lectures who are industry experts, and participate in class discussions.

Learning Outcomes
1. Evaluate the individual sources of short-term and long-term funding available to a company.
2. Explain the key attributes of the sources of finance
3. Analyse and decide between the sources on the basis of cost, market timing, availability etc.
4. Devise an optimal funding strategy for a company and advise on how to implement such a strategy.

¿ Introduction to Capital Instruments¿ Equity Management - criteria used by investors, timing of equity issues, listing procedures, investor relations, overseas markets. ¿ Debt Management - debt structure and trading, debt capacity, managing debt mix, managing bank relationships, funding across national boundaries.¿ Bonds - issue tactics, restrictive covenants, implication of clauses, anticipation and management of clauses.¿ Hybrids and Structured Financing - convertibles, leases, securitisation.¿ Role of Derivatives.

Principles of equity management.
The Equity Market.
