Description

To introduce students to the development of education at primary and post-primary levels in Ireland.To highlight patterns of development, engagement and provision in relation to the various parties involved in provision since the inception of the primary system.To encourage students to engage with the various philosophical issues pertaining to schooling as a historically and contemporaneously contested territory.To raise student awareness of recent issues arsing in educational policy in relation to teaching, curriculum and the teaching body.

The historical role of the churches in education in Ireland.

Educational Legislation and Policy.
The changing nature of the educational landscape.
