The purpose of this module is to provide students with a theoretical framework for the practical application of counselling skills. It also aims to encourage students to reflect on their own personal development as a medium for understanding the personal counselling dimension when working as a guidance counsellor. The module addresses a number of counselling/psychotherapy approaches inclusive of psychodynamic, humanistic-existential, cognitive-behavioural and transpersonal. Particpants are encouraged to begin the process of establishing their own counselling theoretical framework which will inform current or future practice. Students are expected to attend and engage in active participation in all lectures and to examine how this module can enhance counselling skills development. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
