Sa mhodúl seo gheobhaidh mic léinn léargas ar shaincheisteanna a bhaineann le teangacha an domhain, go háirithe an Ghaeilge agus mionteangacha eile. Foghlaimeoidh siad faoi na bealaí ina n-oibríonn teangacha, na fáthanna agus na bealaí ina bhfoghlaimíonn daoine teangacha, go háirithe an dara teanga. Déanfar plé mar gheall ar an dátheangachas agus an ilteangachas, ar mheath agus bás teanga, agus ar athbheochan agus córais pleanála teanga. Déanfaidh mic léinn machnamh criticiúil ar a n-iompar teanga féin go háirithe maidir leis an nGaeilge, agus ar fhorbairt a gcumas Gaeilge. Déanfaidh siad plé ar a ról pearsanta féin i dtodhchaí na Gaeilge.

Learning Outcomes
1. Cur síos agus plé a dhéanamh ar staid reatha theangacha an domhain, go háirithe an Ghaeilge agus mionteangacha eile.
2. Coincheap an dátheangachais agus an ilteangachais agus na bealaí éagsúla a fheidhmíonn siad a mhíniú.
3. Feasacht teanga mar choincheap a phlé go criticiúil.
4. Scil smaointeoireachta criticiúla a léiriú trí anailís a dhéanamh ar a n-iompar teanga féin, go háirithe maidir leis an nGaeilge.
5. Cás-staidéir chuí de phobail éagsúla teanga a léiriú agus a chur i gcomparáid le staid reatha na Gaeilge.
6. Teoiricí maidir le meath teanga, bás teanga agus athbheochan teanga a phlé.
