Description
This module sets the level B1.2 from the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) as its minimum exit level. Throughout the semester, students will consolidate and expand the skills acquired in FR238, as well as develop their understanding of issues relating to employment and work practices in the private, public, or voluntary sectors in a French speaking and multicultural context. The module allows students to consolidate their language competence in context and increase fluency in spoken and written interaction through French. Finally, students will develop transferable skills such as digital literacies, team work, problem solving skills, and communication and presentation skills through a variety of class and online activities and assignments.

Learning Outcomes
1. Extract the main ideas from a range of authentic print and multimodal sources (e.g. including text,sound, images) in French, related to the theme of employment and work
2. Analyse and redefine ill-structured problems related to work and employment in a multicultural context
3. Work in a team, through the medium of French, towards possible solutions to a well defined work related problem
4. Present and evaluate, orally and in writing, possible solutions to a work related problem
5. Make effective use of digital tools and resources for communication purposes
6. Reflect on his/her work, language and competences development, and learning outcomes

Indicative Content and Learning Activities
Learning activities.
Students will engage in problem based learning activities, in class and online. These activities will provide them with ample opportunities to practise French so that they can further develop their spoken and written skills. They will also be encouraged to develop transferable skills and attributes (e.g. collaborative learning, digital intelligence, communication skills, etc.), and to take ownership of their learning.Students are expected to attend all classes and to participate fully in offline and online activities and interactions..

Indicative topics.
Students will address problems relating to employment and work issues in a multicultural and multilingual environment, with particular reference to a French-speaking context..
