Description
This module sets the level B2.2 from the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) as its minimum exit level. It aims to consolidate language competence and fluency, with emphasis on reading and aural comprehension and spoken production. Students practise their aural comprehension with listening exercises based on TV news and current affairs programmes and are trained to participate effectively in an oral group discussion on a specialised topic. They also study a prescribed French novel in its original form, thus improving their reading comprehension skills and their ability to critically assess a long text and express their point of view in writing. The students' cultural awareness is enhanced, enabling them to integrate easily in an intercultural workplace at home or abroad.

Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate understanding and write a critical appraisal of a contemporary French novel in its original form.
2. Write on complex subjects in a clear, well structured and detailed manner with a degree of accuracy appropriate for this level.
3. Perform an effective group presentation based on the review of a film chosen from a prescribed list.
4. Demonstrate their ability to take part in a group discussion with a level of fluency and spontaneity, clarity of pronunciation and language accuracy appropriate for this level.
5. Show an increased awareness of cultural diversity and a greater understanding of differences in business practices and other aspects of human behaviour and interaction in a global marketplace.
