Description
1. To identify major artistic, filmic and literary movements that have shaped the course of the history of France and of some Francophone countries over the last 100 years.2. To examine artistic, filmic and literary productions of the French-speaking world in the twentieth century as specific manifestations of cultural debates.

Learning Outcomes
1. Analyse literary and visual material in the French language,
2. Recognise the cultural and artistic backgrounds which generated these artefacts,
3. Articulate their appreciation of the development of modern francophone cultures and artistic representations
4. Respond critically orally and in writing to the material on the syllabus
5. Produce an organised argumentative piece of writing in French at an appropriate level
